History
Grameenphone was founded by entrepreneur Iqbal Quadir with the goal of providing cellular data to all Bangladeshis, even in the most rural areas. Inspired by the Grameen Bank micro-credit model, Quadir was interested in developing a business model where one's mobile phone can serve as both a source of income and communication tool.
Quadir, fired up to pursue his dream of starting his own business, left his life behind as an investment banker in the United States. After meeting with an investor and philanthropist from New York, Joshua Mailman, Quadir raised the initial funds to get started on his business. Upon returning to Bangladesh, Quadir put in 3 years of hard work and gained the support of institutions like aforementioned Grameen Bank and now-partner, Norwegian telecommunications company, Telenor.
All of Quadir's hard work eventually paid off. Grameenphone was issued its license for cell phone operation in 1996, via the Bangladesh Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The company began operating on the 26th of March 1997 - Bangladesh's Independence Day.
Since the early 2000s, Grameenphone has become the leading cell phone provider in Bangladesh. In 2015, Grameenphone launched Bioscope, a streaming media service that helped to jump on the streaming media revolution at its peak.
Design
For one, the bioscope logo is at the top of the page, providing a sense of continuity and organization. Additionally, there are menus on either side of the main content area that allow you to quickly access different sections of the site. Finally, each movie has its own dedicated page that showcases all its pertinent information - including ratings, reviews, cast information, and more.
The design of BioScope is classically styled with modern enhancements. Its white background with green accents may remind viewers of Hulu - another popular movie streaming service - but this website's design is more nuanced than most. Above the logo is a menu bar on either side of the main content area which allows users to rapidly navigate to different sections. For each movie there is its own dedicated page with all pertinent information--including ratings, reviews and cast info--displayed prominently.
At the top of the page, visitors are greeted by an extra-large banner that features featured and promoted movies and shows. Quickly jumping to one of these movies or shows is easy, and adding it to your watch list is also simple.

The only downside is that Bioscope is not yet available on other platforms, such as Roku, Android boxes, or smart TVs.
