History and description

It was opened in 1973, and has been used for soccer matches ever since. The Estadi Ciutat de València was built to replace Levante's old Estadio de Vallejo. First plans were made in the late 1950s, but it took over ten years for plans to get approved and construction to start. The Estadi Ciutat de València opened in 1973, and it has been used for soccer matches ever since. On September 9, 1969, the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia officially opened with a friendly between Levante and Valencia. The hosts won by a narrow margin.

It now has a capacity of 48,000. The stadium was originally called Estadio Antonio Román in honour of the club president at the time, and it had a capacity of 30,000. In the next few years, it first changed names to Nou Estadi and later to its current name in order to reinforce the bond of the club with the city. The stadium now has a capacity of 48,000.

No changes were made to the stadium until it underwent a first refurbishment in 2016 which included the replacement of all seats. Plans were then made for a larger renovation which would include the construction of a roof over the stands, the addition of hospitality facilities, and a refurbishment of the insides of the stadium. Construction works on the roof started in 2020.

How to get to Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in the north-east of the city of Valencia, about 2.5 kilometres from the historic city centre and one kilometre more from the main railway station. The walk from Valencia Cathedral to the stadium will take about 30 minutes. There are various ways to get to the stadium by public transport.

From the railway station, you can take metro line 3 (red) to get to the stadium. Take the metro from, for example, stop Xativa, Colon, or Alameda in the direction of Rafelbunyol, and get off at stop Machado. The ride will take only 10 minutes and it is a further 5-minute walk from metro to stadium.

Take bus 70 from Pl. de Ajuntament, Palau de Justicia, or from the former Turia riverbed. Get off at stop Alfahuir - Cercle de Belles Arts. Buses go at least every 20 minutes. Bus 11 can be taken from the same points. Get off at stop Santiago Rusinol.

Tram 6 stops right in front of the stadium (stop Estadi del Llevant), but only connects with destinations in the eastern part of Barcelona and around the Mediterranean coast.

If arriving by bus, alight at the stop located in front of the stadium. If you are arriving by car from Autovia V-21/E15 (north-east), take the Ronda Nord (northern ring road) and enter the city. Follow until you see the stadium on the left side of the road. If arriving by bus, alight at the stop located in front of the stadium.

If entering the city from the north, follow the signs for Ciudad Real and follow the Ciudad Real until you see the stadium on your right. If you are travelling in from either southern or western directions, and want to reach the Ronda Nord stadium, look for signs that say "Ronda Nord" and follow them until you see it. If travelling in from northern directions, look for signs that say "Ciudad Real" and follow these signs until you reach the stadium.

Address: San Vicente de Paul 44, 46019 Valencia

Eat, drink, and sleep near Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in a residential area on the edge of the city. There are few bars or restaurants around, and eating and drinking can therefore better be done in the historical centre or further away at the beaches. If you wish to stay as close as possible to the stadium, Hotel Olympia Valencia is a good option. It is decently priced, gets good reviews, and is located 10 minutes walking from the stadium.

If you stay in Valencia for more than a few hours, a hotel in the city center will likely be more convenient. Click here to see the available options.

Levante Tickets

They are priced at €15 for adults and €5 for children. Tickets can be bought on the gate on the day of the match, as Levante rarely sell out.

Tickets for matches against lower-level opponents will cost ?15.00 for a seat behind the goal and will be  ?35.00 for a covered seat at the main stand. Tickets for the more important matches will be much more expensive.

You can find a seating map here. Email [email protected] for more information.

A large bowl with a small group of ultras in the corner to the right of the covered stand can be seen from the pitch. Only alcohol free beer is available in the stadium and there is very little in terms of catering - I do not recommend the hot dogs.

Thank you for making us feel so welcome. We are grateful to be now Levante supporters.
