New Luton Town Stadium: Today. Directions, Tickets, Address, Map, Pitch (2022)

The current stadium has been in use since 1913 and is not able to meet the needs of the club. The Board of Directors at Luton Town have been working on plans to build a new stadium for some time now. The current stadium, which was built in 1913, does not meet the needs of the club and they have been looking for a suitable new home.

Description

Since the 1990s, Luton Town have sought to build a new stadium to replace their current ground, Kenilworth Road. However, due to a lack of funding, plans have repeatedly failed to move forward. Plans to erect a basketball court in Luton's town center were first contemplated in 2015, and the club went on to identify the Power Court site as their preferred location. After starting a public consultation process, they started a formal application process in the summer of 2016, but progress has since slowed down while awaiting planning permission.

The club had initially hoped to move into the stadium by 2020, but this has now been pushed back to 2024 at the earliest. If construction work on the stadium is to start in early 2022, this would mean that the club would have to begin moving in by early next year.

The planned new Luton Town stadium is set to have a maximum capacity of 17,500 seats, roughly 7,500 more than the current Kenilworth Road stadium. If circumstances (e.g. promotion to the Premier League) changed, then the planned new Luton Town stadium could have a maximum capacity of 23,000 seats.

The stadium will be part of a larger regeneration of the Power Court site that will include new residential apartments, a hotel, retail space, and various bars and restaurants. The club hopes to fund the project by developing land it owns elsewhere along the M1 motorway.

Images of New Luton Town Stadium

I hope that you have a wonderful time in Australia and that the ground will be hospitable to your other events. I have been living in Luton all my life and I am sure it will be a great place for your trip. Good luck! Of course, the ground gives a place for other events as well. I have been in Australia since 1968 and have been a Luton man all along. Good luck.

We won the replay at Maine Road 3-1! Stood in the roofless Kenilworth Road end in the pouring rain. Dennis Law scored the 6 goals. There were 29,000+ at that game. The new stadium is too small, needs to be 30000.

It is unknown when the new stadium will be ready. I have supported Luton since 1957 and have gone to the football matches that they have played in the past. In particular, I went to the FA Cup match when we were losing 6-2 to Man City, and then abandoned the second half. However, we won the replay at Maine Road 3-1!!! Standing in the roofless Kenilworth Rd end in pouring rain, Dennis Law scored the 6 goals. There were 29000+ people there. The new stadium needs to be larger in order for us to properly enjoy our matches there.

It should shame the town of Luton that it continuously is thwarted by bureaucracy and faceless planners who have no commercial concept of the damage their tardy decision making has. They should get behind their team and support progress.

The organisation should be ashamed of itself for continually being thwarted by bureaucracy and faceless planners who have no commercial concept of the damage their tardy decision making has. The team's progress should be supported.

Roderic Fountain wrote on March 14, 2018 at 9:54 pm: It is a fantastic location for a stadium, but the design lacks imagination and reminds me of the New Den, which is probably the most miserable stadium in the whole of Europe. Much much better is required.

I believe that this location would make an excellent stadium, but the design lacks imagination and bears a striking resemblance to the New Den. The proposed design should be revised significantly in order to match the high standards set by other stadiums across Europe.

. Barrie Evans wrote: January 9, 2018 at 12:14 am I am a supporter of the club since 1945. I played for the schoolboys' team in 1950-51. After all the down times endured by the club promotion this season and with a new stadium coming, it is well deserved. Let's all support our heritage and come out to support the TOWN!

Since 1945, the supporter has been a part of helping the club promotion. Back in 1950-51, she played for her schoolboys and now she is cheering on her hometown club as they embark on another season of promotion. Let's all support them as they work hard for this new stadium!

Brian Block wrote: January 3, 2018 at 9:09 pm Regarding the Hatters, I have followed them since 1948. In the Fifties, I remember speaking with Charles Jeyes (then Chairman) about a new ground. The new design (though quite nice) is to me very limiting. After all these years you would have thought that it would hold a minimum of 25,000 and be situated closer to the motorway. The team is doing well now and could possibly move on through the leagues (a la Swansea City). After all these years, you've got to think big in order to become a big club and not a provincial one.

After years of ambition to develop new facilities adjacent to the M1, I was disappointed when a much smaller and limited alternative location was proposed. I have now stopped following the club closely both at home and away because of this.

I have been a life long supporter of the club and have always been a follower away from home and in the past. After my lifelong ambitions for new facilities adjacent to the M1 were met with disappointment, I became very disappointed and stopped following the club through home and away matches.

The town of Luton deserves a new stadium to support their football club. The present stadium is in need of repairs and it has seen better days.

Get behind the club to make it happen.

Come on you Hatters.
