Anything until this number is reached is purely hit or miss.

I listened to about 30 tracks in a single sitting and I found 7-8 of them to be amazing. However, much to my disappointment, the most upvoted track from those 30 garnered just 8 upvotes. However, I feel that the mods could do a better job by asking the music submitters to flag their content based on their genres and BPMs. I believe if they made it more collaborative, it would grow enormously over the next few years.

Important rules you must know before joining r/independentmusic?

As an independent creator, it is not shameful to be a part of a bigger community. You want your content to be recognized and music to be heard by thousands if not millions of people. But in our desperation to get our music out there, we often end up spamming the social platforms and that is certainly not something you can do on this subreddit.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of rules on r/independentmusic, you will find hundreds of artists with no actual skills spamming the feed with their unmixed music. I'm not suggesting they shouldn't be allowed to upload, but segregationating the production skills on the basis of time, knowledge, and genre would prevent this from happening.

Design

The most positive aspect of this subreddit's community design is that it stands out from everything I've seen so far. In addition, there is a cover which reads "Music is my religion." There are no options in the header section and just below that you have your standard Reddit sorting options. Towards the right, you have "Community Information" followed by "Mods" and "Musicians Lounge."
