reddit.com/r/youtube
Video streaming is one of the most popular content consumption methods. More than 2.8 billion people visit YouTube on a monthly basis. If you were to take into consideration the world's most populous countries - China and India - YouTube's monthly traffic is equivalent to its entire population. So, whether you want to learn how to play guitar or you want to learn how to cook, you can do it all on YouTube.
The content on YouTube is truly amazing. In addition to tutorials and gaming videos, you can find just about anything you could ever need on this platform. Felix, with over 100 million subscribers, produces a new video everyday and typically receives 4-5 million views. There are millions of smaller creators like him who produce quality videos that attract a lot of traffic. So it's not surprising that the YouTube community has its own subreddit where people can discuss everything happening on the site.
We will be reviewing the subreddit r/YouTube. This subreddit contains all sorts of posts and videos related to YouTube. You can ask a question, participate in a debate, share quality content, or provide feedback to other users' videos.
My recent experience on r/YouTube
The reason was that he was using an iPhone 6.
I recently experienced a funny thing on r/YouTube. A user by the name of u/yajTPG posted an image where the size of high (720p) resolution was less than medium (360p). The reason was that he was using an iPhone 6.
According to the image, there were three storage optionsâLow (144p), Medium (360p), and High (720p)âlisted with their corresponding file sizes. His question to YouTube was, "How does 720p take less storage than 360p?" YouTube replied that it's thanks to the way videos are encoded. Can you explain more?
"PewDiePie is the best because he makes us feel better when we're feeling bad."
And just when you thought they had given you a reason to make a meme, they found a way to win your heart back. Quite recently, their heartwarming message was PewDiePie received a lot of traction. The caption read, "PewDiePie is the best because he makes us feel better when we're feeling bad."
Congratulations, Marziapie! Your marriage has restored your love of Minecraft, and you've now reached 100 million subscribers on YouTube. Wow! What a month to celebrate!
About r/YouTube - Community & Members
The subreddit on reddit, r/YouTube, is a place for users to discuss anything and everything that happens on YouTube. Everything from features, upgrades, bugs, and business decisions is covered here. This is not an official subreddit, nor is it run by YouTube or Google employees. Though there are a few of them, they don't have a major say on the subreddit. As far as the numbers go, r/YouTube has 414,000 members. Sure, it's not the highest number out there, but with 1-2k members online at any given time, the activity looks decent.
How to access r/YouTube?
After you?re done, simply press the ?submit? button at the bottom of the subreddit page.
If you are already a Reddit member, you can simply type "r/YouTube" in your search bar and follow the subreddit. If you are new to Reddit, you would want to sign up on the platform and confirm your email address. By doing so, you will be able to follow subreddits, comment on posts, and even post anything on any of the subreddits. After you are done, simply press the "submit" button at the bottom of the subreddit page.
Moderators of r/YouTube
I understand that r/YouTube is not the biggest subreddit. It is much smaller than other video and streaming-based pages, such as r/videos, r/livestreamfails, and so on. However, we also need to consider that not every YouTube viewer has a Reddit account, and even if they do, they may not be interested in technical discussions and controversies since they are already up-to-date with the stories of their favorite creators.
It is acknowledged that there is still a need for members of a large community to maintain decorum. For this reason, moderators of r/YouTube do an excellent job ensuring that the posts on the subreddit meet the rules and guidelines. At the time of writing this review, there are five moderators - Pokechu22, FunnyMan3595, LightCodeGaming, channelmasta, and RevaniteAnime.
Why should you follow r/YouTube?
R/YouTube is a great place to find quality content about successes, updates, bug fixes, and news about the channel's hiatus. The best part is that users can help creators attract attention by giving valuable feedback. On this thread, you'll also find information relating to budding channels, creative direction, amazing editing, and other mishaps. For instance, one funny post had this "Pinned by Creator" comment when the channel was of another creator. Lol. These bugs and mishaps are fun to watch!
Community Engagement
One of the most fascinating aspects of this subreddit is that it enables users to chat with each other. There is a section in the header part of the subreddit that encourages users to find people in r/youtube who want to chat. This is a great initiative to kill boredom during testing times. The AI matches you with members who are in need of communication and so you will never be alone. The last time I checked, there were nearly 2,000 members that wanted to chat. As far as the engagement on posts goes, a top post on any given day attracts between 250-400 upvotes.
Browsing & Navigation
If you judge me, I love YouTube controversies. However, this subreddit was different than what I expected. Here, people were focused on features, updates, and upgrades rather than the creator's content itself. More like a team of 600,000 members just highlighting what's wrong with YouTube. There are few creators related posts, but the content that is there on this platform is for the greater good.
Reddit Gold
The reddit gold is not common on this page. If you are awarded gold on this subreddit for any posting or comment, consider that to be your lucky day. Even the wittiest and funniest content is not often rewarded due to the sheer volume of content being posted. On average, you will find 2-3 golds if you check the top 20 posts of the month.
Filter by flair
You will find a huge number of rants on this platform where users are dissenting with new upgrades and changes. A couple of days ago, YouTube rolled out its update, where it shrunk the comment section size and moved it under the channel. Apparently, that sparked a lot of users. So, if you're not into rants or controversies, unlike me, you can use the filter by flair feature. You have three options to choose from - Discussion, Question, and Bug.

in Class
Memes are not allowed in the classroom.
Do not violate YouTube's Rules. These include but are not limited to: prohibiting use of copyrighted materials, spamming, and bullying.
Design
I like the simple layout of this subreddit, but I do feel that it needs an original icon and a better cover image. Apart from that, the overall design seems cool. There are 3-4 ad banners, but they don't disrupt the browsing experience. I'm not active on this subreddit every day, but I do check it out a couple of times in a week. And when I do, I spend 15-20 minutes on this subreddit.
The browsing experience is cool, and video playback on YouTube is quite easy. For some reason, video playback on Twitch via Reddit x1000 times better than my experience with YouTube. So, overall, I get to watch the content, and I can?t be happier.

later, it became a hit
As YouTube celebrates its 15th anniversary today, it's worth remembering that the site's humble beginnings were a little more mundane. On February 14th, 2005, somebody using the name "Mr. Yukinari Matsumoto" uploaded a 12-second video of themselves typing on a computer to the site. The video - which has since been viewed over 2 billion times - received just two upvotes before quickly disappearing into obscurity. It was only after Matsumoto reuploaded the video to celebrate his birthday (with over 15,000 upvotes) that YouTube's popularity began to snowball.
It appears that, in the eyes of many, countries are now brands. Based on the 2,100 upvotes given to this article, it seems that this is a viewpoint that a majority of readers share.

My friend's YouTube channel is going to be deleted in two days because of three false copyright strikes - 1,900 upvotes.
Conclusion
If you are solely looking for information on YouTube updates, features, and stories, then r/YouTube is a great subreddit to be a part of. Users here discuss updates and other milestones on YouTube. This isn't the place for you if you are more interested in creator-based content controversies and drama. Overall, r/YouTube is a cool subreddit to be a part of, especially if you are looking for help troubleshooting problems on the platform.
