Lazio Roma (or the Eagles as they are often called) is an Italian football club based in Rome. It was founded in 1900 by Englishmen and students who had emigrated to Italy after the end of World War I with the demonstrators of William Stead's Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race; the team called themselves Laziali, which means something like "from or belonging to this region", colloquially simply "Lazio".
