History and description

It underwent renovation in 1995 with a new roof and stands. The original stands were rebuilt in 2006. It has a capacity of 40,000 spectators. The Stade Raymond Kopa, previously known as the Stade Jean Bouin Stadium, opened in 1912. The stadium originally had an athletics track which was removed in 1957 in a redevelopment. In 1995, renovations were made to the stadium with a new roof and stands. The original stands were rebuilt in 2006. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000 spectators and is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium underwent a next major redevelopment in 1993 when Angers promoted to Ligue 1, including the construction of the new curved Colombier stand behind the goal. This stand was similar to those of Marseille's Stade Velodrome which would get built a few years later.

In the 2010s, Stade Jean Bouin underwent a new stand construction and later several renovations.

On 3 March 2017, the City Council of Angers voted to rename the stadium in honour of Raymond Kopa, an ex-player of the club.

How to get to Stade Raymond Kopa

The Stade Raymond Kopa stadium is located in the south-west of Angers, about 2 kilometers from the city center. It takes about half an hour to walk to the stadium from the cathedral in the center. It takes about half an hour to walk from the main rail station, which is located close to the city center. Angers has good train connections to the rest of France. Frequent trains run from Paris. The journey takes about 1.5 hours.

Angers Tickets

Tickets for Angers games can be bought online, at the club store at the 58 Promenade de la Baumette (about 1.5 kilometres south of the centre), at one of the official sales outlets, or at any of the France Billet or Ticketnet sales points. If tickets remain available, they can also be purchased at the stadium from one and a half hours before the match.

Ticket prices range from $15.00 for a seat behind the goal to $60.00 for the best seats at the main stand.
