The stadium was renamed to Stade Raymond Kopa in 1993. It is located in the north-west of the city, near the Parc des Princes and the Gare Montparnasse. The stadium, formerly known as Stade Bessonneau and later renamed Raymond Kopa, opened its gates in 1912. The athletics track which originally occupied the site was removed in 1957 during a redevelopment process. The stadium was officially renamed to Raymond Kopa following a 1994 decree by President François Mitterrand. Located in northwest Paris, close to Parc des Princes and Gare Montparnasse, it is an iconic landmark of the city.
