History and description

It was mainly used for football matches and was the home of Real Union, which later became Racing Santander. In 1957, the roof was replaced with a new one and the stadium got its current name. Since the 1950s, when a cycling track was built around the pitch, the stadium's shape has remained unchanged. However, until the 1990s, little else changed with regards to the stadium.

The club embarked on a large redevelopment project in 1997 that included the construction of new covered seating stands on both sides and small terraces behind the goals.

How to get to Stadium Gal

The stadium Gal is located in the north of the city of Irún near the border with France. It is about a kilometre from Irun's city centre. Both stations can be reached with the Euskotren trains from San Sebastian. There are trains departing from Amara station every 15 minutes to Irun and every 30 minutes to FICOBA. The journey takes just over half an hour.

Regular Renfe trains connect San Sebastian and Irun, both regional and long-distance ones. Many connect with Madrid.
