whats-on-netflix.com

What's On Netflix is an awesome website that helps viewers filter through tv shows and movies. The website was launched in 2013 and the process they use to organize all of their content is amazing. Netflix provides a service to viewers free of charge, with the main focus being on the United States. Their team monitors and reviews all titles available on Netflix to provide guidance on alternatives for viewers's next favorite shows.

Website Design

The website is visually appealing and the layout flows well. The website is very eye-catching. It is one of my favorite stream search websites. The landing page is very clearly branded and is very suitable for its purpose. What?s On Netflix borrows from its namesake, Netflix. It recreates the iconic red and black theme. The fonts are styled like Netflix, as well. The website is visually appealing and the layout flows well. Another great part of What?s on Netflix is their ad usage. They run ads very sparingly. When you do happen to encounter them, they are not terrible. After scrolling down their main menu, I could only find one ad in the sidebar.

The sidebar is another great piece of the website design. The site runs ads on their sidebar, and they also push their articles there too. The ads blend well with the website's actual content. It is a very strategic design.

The website layout is another great feature. The website's layout design mimics Netflix's classic layout without blatantly copying it. There is a collage of featured articles at the main top. As readers scroll, more content appears in a different layout that keeps them entertained.

Content

The focus of What?s On Netflix is on Netflix content. Although Netflix is mentioned in the title, what's on netflix is not affiliated with the streaming giant. This means all of the lists, recommendations, and articles are unbiased. The vast content on What?s On Netflix includes new, coming soon, leaving soon, and Netflix Originals titles as well as library titles alphabetically from A to Z.

What's new on Netflix is a great resource for users who feel like they've seen everything. I know I always check what's coming out because I've seen most of the originals and can't wait to see what's new. There are options to filter through the new content which is a great way to cater to viewers.

Every now and then, it's a good idea to check the category "Leaving Soon" on Netflix. This happens because titles leave the streaming company monthly due to licensing agreements. It's unfortunate, but it's useful for viewers to be able to notice when their favorite movies or TV shows are going to stop being available on Netflix.

What to Watch on Netflix consists of a vast amount of articles and lists. Some of the titles that can be found here are Top 50 Movies on Netflix: January 2020, List of All 600+ Netflix Originals Released in 2019, and Best New TV Series on Netflix This Week. The content is updated as frequently as every week, sometimes sooner.

This is incredibly helpful for finding what you are looking for! Sometimes it is difficult to access the full library of Netflix. It can be filtered by genres, or it may leave out certain titles. Fortunately, What's On Netflix has compiled a list of their entire library. This A to Z catalog is broken down beautifully and can be sorted by movies, TV shows, or documentaries. There are further subcategories like features, genre, decade, TV network, franchise, and retired library. This is incredibly helpful for finding what you are looking for!

Desktop & Mobile Accessibility

The desktop website is without flaw. There are no complaints from me concerning the branding, website design, or the number of features available. There is no app on the app stores that provides a mobile browsing experience comparable to the desktop one. Though this may be okay for many, some users find that the text is slightly smaller and that articles and features are crammed together more tightly on screens of mobile devices.

Positives

Netflix has a lot of great things going for it. The website design is great, and they have gotten a lot of things right. The website's layout is visually appealing and easy to navigate, with articles plentiful and interesting content. The website rarely uses backlinks in their articles, but it isn't a necessity for them. Articles are typically in list-based format, making for smooth reading and easy skimming. Related article links are thoughtful, according to the article they are placed within.

A positive aspect of the website is that it is not partnered with Netflix. This means we get real, unaltered content from What's On Netflix. Real people write the articles without featuring what Netflix wants them to feature. They have their own opinions and are frequently expressive about them.

The website is a strong suit of What?s On Netflix. The primary menu on the website is well-constructed. The further sub-categories within the pages are even better. The sorting on the website is somewhat endless, but it is not a bad thing. The search function on the website is another good feature. It is easy to find and works properly.

What's on Netflix is great because it updates frequently. There are many articles that are recycled weekly, monthly, and yearly. They are often used to keep viewers updated on the hottest TV trends. Another great part of the website is the ability to comment on things. Readers can comment and feel like part of the What's on Netflix community.

There are several other noteworthy aspects of the What?s On Netflix website. The policy used to block ads is presented in a thoughtful way. Another benefit of the website is the "what to watch" section, which is attractive. In addition, there are many more positive features of What?s On Netflix that deserve mention.

Negatives

I have no complaints about What?s On Netflix. They are relatively minor things, but overall the website is close to perfect. However, there seems to be a lack of diversity when it comes to backlinks. Ultimately, I would like this website to expand its focus and make websites for each competing streaming service. Another thing I would like to see is an improvement on backlinks, which makes it easier to track down interests. However, I appreciate their diversity currently.

It is unfortunate that the website does not have an app. The website's content could translate well to an app form, and it might even enhance user experience to be able to access more easily on mobile. The mobile browser version is not up to par with the desktop version; advertisements are also worse on the mobile browser version.

Improvements Needed

There are few suggestions I could offer to What's On Netflix. One suggestion would be to create an app for mobile use. It could tremendously increase traffic on the website. If this is not an option, slightly improving the mobile browser would be good too. Creating sister websites that relate to competing for streaming websites outside of Netflix would be a great addition to the market. It would bring even more viewers, and there is definitely a need for these types of websites. I could see one performing well in the market.

Summary

Streaming services are hard to use. What's On Netflix makes it easy for viewers to know what's worth watching and what's not. Check out some of their list-based articles to help you create your new watchlist. I find the website to be flawless and the design visually appealing. What?s On Netflix closely mimics the design of our favorite streaming service. It feels familiar and fun to sift through the endless content.
