Manchester City Football Club was formed in 1880 and has played ever since. In 1887 they briefly played under the name Ardwick AF. After four years of simply being called 'Manchester' the club finally acquired its current name - The Citizens - when it officially switched from West Gorton Saint Marks Fc to its more modern name on 4 December 1894. The club have won the English Championship five times (most recently in 2012, 2014 and 2018), the FA Cup five times (most recently in 2011), the League Cup four times (most recently in 2015) and the European Cup Winners' Cup once (1970). He plays in the Premier League and his official mascots are aliens Moonchester and Moondnbeaam. In September 2009, Sheikh Mansour Prince Zayedalnahyan acquired all shares in Manchester City through his company ADUG.
